At Elicit, you can work from anywhere with significant time zone overlap with Pacific Time, and we aim to get together in person for at least one week every quarter.

As a baseline, we have a full-company retreat 3-4 times per year. We also encourage all Elicians to cowork in person with collaborators any time it is useful.

How it works

If you don’t live in or near Oakland, most of the time you’ll work remotely. But we make sure you’ll still get in-person time with the team through:

For remote team members, this typically averages out to working in-person with other Elicians roughly every other month (or at least once per quarter, at retreats).

At retreats, we keep it simple: travel days are part of the work week, and we plan the retreat agenda for the days in between based on the tone we want the retreat to strike. We typically focus these days on fun, collaborative activities that benefit the most from in-person interaction like strategic planning, collaborative problem-solving, creative brainstorming, and just generally enjoying one another’s company.

Outside of retreats we promote in-person collaboration by helping sponsor coworking weeks with colleagues and coordinating travel to the office as needed. When not collaborating in person, use your time and location to the best possible effect.

Why we do this

We love that remote work gives us the ability to work with many incredible people we otherwise wouldn’t get to work with. We also love the benefits of in-person time and prioritize it highly, so that we can:

We want to be the rare company that is able to extract the best of both worlds, providing you with the focus and flexibility of remote work, and the speed, connection, and collaboration benefits of being together in person.
